Aamir Bashir is an actor and filmmaker. He hails from Kashmir where he was born and brought up at. He did his schooling from Jammu and later headed to Delhi for his college where he soon got involved in acting in theatre groups. After he completed his studies he headed to Mumbai to pursue his dream career in the field of acting. He started his career with a small role on TV called Bhanwar the TV series. Soon he was also seen in a couple of ads and commercials giving him a good exposure. He soon bagged a film doing his debut in Split Wide Open in 1999.
He then got a Doordarshan telefilm called Srinagar. He then was seen in Armaan in 2003. Since then it was no looking back for the actor. His role of a police officer in A Wednesday with Naseeruddin Shah was applauded and it also helped him bag Screen Awards nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He was supposed to play the younger bro role of SRK in My Name is Khan but things did not work and the role went to Jimmy Sheirgill. His debut in direction came with the film called Harud.
The film was applauded worldwide as it got premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. The film had Reza Naji and Shahnawaz Bhat, while it was based on Kashmir. Some of his other works include Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, Peepli Live, Future To Bright Hai Ji, Haider, The Great Indian Butterfly, and Gurgaon. he also did a couple of web series doing his debut in this domain with Sacred Games in 2018 and currently doing Inside Edge Season 2. He is currently shooting for Sacred Games Season 2 and Balaji’s next feature film. He was also in the films Hunter and now Laal Kaptaan.
