Akshay Oberoi opens on if OTT is a door of opportunity or not – “The actors seemed to have fared better than the stars in 2020. It was definitely the year of good content and acting. This can be attributed entirely to how the OTT space operates. People who deserve to be cast are being given jobs. Hence, why we had such top-notch performances this year across the medium.”
He further adds and tells his favorites from 2020 and says – “Some stand-outs for me were Pratik Gandhi in Scam 1992 and Jaideep Ahlawat in Patal Lok. With that said, 2020 wasn’t a great year all round for our business. We lost a lot of great talents. Some who have left behind a large body of work for us to study and some who left too early.”
Akshay Oberoi further concludes by saying about how he deals with toxicity of social media. He says – “Social media is a beast that we have created as a society. It operates a certain way. And as with anything, if you want to be a part of that universe, you have to deal with the negatives of it. In this case, there is a lot of toxicity, yes. But you have to be aware of what you signed up for. You can’t enter a boxing ring and expect that no one is going to throw a punch.”
