Wiki : Rahul Bose is a popular film actor, director, screenwriter, sportsperson and social activist. He was born on 27th July 1967 and calls himself as a half Bengali apart from one fourth Maharashtrian and Punjabi. He was born in a Bengali family and did his schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School in Bombay. He then tried applying at a couple of American Universities; however, on a couple of rejection, he headed to Sydenham College to do his college followed by Masters in advertising. He then worked as a advertising professional and continued working till he winded up his job in the position of creative director in one of the leading ad making company in Mumbai called Rediffusion.

His passion for acting started when he was in school wherein he got the acting role of at the tender age of six in a play called Tom, The Piper’s Son. He was also interested in sports during his school days and was seen active in sports like rugby and boxing. He also played cricket under the coaching of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. He played rugby and even boxing, however, after his mother’s death he focused in his career and started working as a copy writer and as said above, he even rose to the position of creative director till he resigned to work as a full time actor with the release of his movie called English August. He then did a couple of plays till he was offered a role in a English TV series called A Mouth Full of Sky.

Some of the movies, which he did include Bombay Boys, Jhankar Beats, Mr. Mrs Iyer, Thakshak, Mumbai Maitness, Saurya, Chain Kuli Ki Main Kuli, Pyar Ke Side Effects, etc. And some of his recent movies include Kuch Love Jaisa, Midnight Children, Laptop, etc. And his upcoming movies include Dil Dhadakne Do of Zoya Akhtar, which he is doing along with Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and slew of other actors. Apart from acting in different movies, he is also known for other things, which include sports. In the year 1998 he was the part of first Indian national rugby team wherein he played the global event at the Asian Rugby Football Union Championship. In this tournament, he played both scrumhalf and over the right winger positions.

Above all, Rahul Bose is known for social activism as well. He supported a number of cause like helping the victims of Tsunami. He also initiated Andaman and Nicobar Scholarship Initiative with the help of an NGO called The Foundation. This NGO helps the underprivileged children from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He is also associated with a number of charitable organizations including Teach for India, Akshara Centre, Citizen for Justice and Peace Breakthrough and Spastics Society of India. Besides, he is also the first Indian Oxfam as global ambassador in the year 2007. He is also the chairperson of The Group of Groups, which is an umbrella organization for 51 Mumbai charitable groups and NGOs. He is also an ambassador for the American India Foundation, Planet Alert and World Youth Peace Movement.

He also associated with the infamous Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA), which was finally came to an end with the construction of the dam over the river. He has been vociferous about a number of social causes and issues in India. As far as awards ac concerned, he has received a number of them for his contribution in various social causes. These include Artiste For Change Karamveer Puruskaar in 2007, the IBN Eminent Citizen Journalist Award in 2008, Youth Icon Award for Social Justice and Welfare in 2009, Green Globe Foundation Award in 2010 for his contribution to social causes as a public figure and the Hakin Khan Sur Award for National Integration from Maharana Mewar Charitable foundation along with the Lt Governor Commendation Award for services in Andaman and Nicobar Island welfare.
