Can you guess a competent director in Bollywood who is known to make movies based on William Shakespeare’s plays. He is a known director, writer, producer, screenwriter apart from being even a playback singer and music composer. He is know to make movies under a number a banner VB Pictures. He hails from Bijnor but was brought up in Meerut, UP in poet and lyricist family. He soon headed to Delhi for his graduation from Hindu College, wherein he soon got involved in Delhi theatres. He started his career by playing harmonium for a couple of Ghazal singers in one of the food festivals in Delhi and soon got the chance to work in CBS Music Company owned by RV Pandit.

Wiki : Vishal Bhardwaj then headed to Mumbai wherein he got the chance to work with Gulzar wherein he worked with the TV serials including Alice in Wonderland, Gubbare and The Jungle Book. He then got the chance to compose the music for movie Maachis, which was directed by Gulzar, which was applauded by the Best Music Director award at the National Film Awards. Some of his hit movies wherein he gave movies include Ishqiya, Omkara, 7 Khoon Maaf, Chachi 420, etc. While he even gave playback singing with singers like Yesudas, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, KK, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu, etc.

Despite trying things like playback singing and music composition or even screenwriter, he is best known in the B Town as a director. His first direction venture was Makdee, which was critically accepted. He then headed to make movies like Macbeth and Macbeth, which are loosely based on Shakespeare dramas and plays. He also made movies based on Ruskin Bond stories, while Omakara was another Shakespearean play, which brought him to limelight. He got the chance to work with legends like Francis Ford Coppola and other veterans. Some of his movies as a director include Ishqia, 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mann Dola, Kamine and Blood Brothers. While his upcoming movie is Haider (another adaption from Shakespeare’s story called Hamlet) for which he has done a number of things including Music Composition, Direction, production and Dialogue along with the Screenplay. Also, he has recently announced Breaking Dreamz as a director.
