Chandler was born in Buffalo, New York, the fourth child of Edward Chandler, a pharmaceutical sales representative, and his wife, Sally Jeanette (née Meyer), a dog breeder. Chandler has three siblings and His ancestry includes German, English, and Irish. Chandler was raised as Roman Catholic (although he stopped attending church after his father’s death). He grew up in suburban Lake Forest, Illinois, until he was 11 years old when his family moved to a small farm in Loganville, Georgia. Sally Cecilia Hawkins was born in Dulwich and brought up in Blackheath, the daughter of Jacqui Hawkins (née Jacqueline Sinfield) and Colin Hawkins, authors and illustrators of children’s books. Her parents both have Irish ancestry. She has an older brother, Finbar Hawkins, a producer. Hawkins first developed an interest in acting at the age of 3 when she went to a circus show. She intended to go into comedy but ended up doing theatre plays. Hawkins attended James Allen’s Girls’ School in Dulwich, and later graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1998. Sally Cecilia first major role was in Mike Leigh’s All or Nothing in 2002. She continued working with Leigh, appearing in a supporting role in Vera Drake (2004) and taking the lead in Happy-Go-Lucky (2008), for which she won several awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Silver Bear for Best Actress.
