Nazanin BoniadiNazanin Boniadi is an Iranian- British actress and Human Rights Activist. She was born on 22nd May 1980 in Tehran and was brought up in this place and the UK. Her parents headed to London after the Iranian Revolution when she was young. She started playing ballet and violin when she was a young girl. She did her schooling from a private school and later headed to the US for her undergraduate program in Life Sciences at the University of California. At UCI, she bagged the prestigious Chang Pin-Chun Undergraduate Research Award for researching molecular science that involved cancer treatment and heart transplant rejection.

Later she also worked at the UCI’s undergraduate medical newspaper called MedTimes as Assistant Editor-in-Chief. However, she changed her career path and got enrolled in an acting and filmmaking program in 2006. She then entered into acting formally with the daytime drama doing the role called Leyla Mir and got involved later in SOAPnet spin-off series General Hospital: Night Shift. She played some Middle Eastern roles in one of the American daytime TV histories. She then appeared in an American soap opera. She then nominated NAACP Image Award getting the Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series in the year 2008.

Some of Nazanin Boniadi’s films include a short film – Kal: Yesterday & Tomorrow playing Simmi in it. She then did Gameface, Charlie Wilson’s War, Iron Man, Diplomacy, The Next Three Days, Shirin in Love, Desert Dancer, Ben-Hur, Passengers, Hotel Mumbai and Bombshell. She also did a couple of TV shows as well. Some of these include CSI, Go On, Grey’s Anatomy, Homeland, Scandal, and Counterpart to name a few. She is also active in Human Rights. She was the spokesperson of Amnesty International USA (AIUSA), she filed Amnesty International petition for the Iran based filmmakers Jafar Panahi and Mohammad Rasoulof. She is associated with many Human Rights groups like the Center for Human Rights in Iran, nonprofit organization Council on Foreign Relations and others.
