Manoj Bajpai is not an unknown name in Bollywood and not just in Mumbai but also in the south fondly called as Tollywood. Manoj Bajpayee is a talented actor who is known to do a number of movie in Bollywood and equal number of movies in South Indian film industry. He hails from a small village of Bihar called Belwa, which is at the border of Bhadrak, which falls under Bettiah district in West Champaran. He did his schooling from Khrist Raja High School based in Bettiah. Later, he headed to Delhi wherein he did his graduation in History from the popular Ramjas College in New Delhi. He then tried taking admission in National School of Drama (NSD), however, rejected for four times. Finally he joined the theatre group of Barry John called Barry’s Drama School.
He started his career by teaching Salaam Balak Trust based in New Delhi. Later, he got the chance to do a serial in Doordarshan called Swaabhimaan directed by Mahesh Bhatt along with Ashutosh Rana and Rohit Roy. This opened the gate of acting for him and soon was seen in Dastak movie in 1996 in the role of a cop working along with Sushmita Sena dn Mukul Dev. He soon got the movie Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar in the lead role playing opposite Tabu after Aditya Srivastava left the project. This led a couple of other movies including Droh Kaal, Bandit Queen, and finally got the movie in his career Satya wherein he played the character of Bhiku Mhatre, which even give him a couple of awards including the National Award under supporting actor category.
His next movie Aks was a big hit giving him the top actor in negative character giving him a couple of awards. Similar was the story for the movie Shool wherein he played the character of a police officer. He was able to fetch the National Film Award, which was the Special Jury Award for the movie called Pinjar. Some of his other Bollywood movies include Veer Zaara, Zubeidaa, Road, Gangs of Wasseypur. His upcoming movies in Bollywood include Tevar along with Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, and Traffic. He started his career in South Indian movie with a Telugu film called Happy wherein he played the character of a police office. As far as his personal life is concerned, he is married to the actress Neha formerly known as Shabana Raza, the lady actor in Kareeb in opposite to Bobby Deol.
