Shaad Ali is not an unknown now in the list of successful directors of Bollywood. Well, Shaad Ali is a popular film director who has directed some selected but unique movies in Bollywood. Born and brought up in Kanpur in a politician family of Muzaffar Ali and Subhashini Ali. However, his father is also a popular filmmaker, while his mother is an active member of CPI (Marxist). He happens to be the grandson of the Lakshmi Sehgal the commander of infamous Azad Hind Fauj being formed by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose during the Freedom Movement of India. He went to Welham Boys’ School and later headed to Lawerence School, Sanwar in Shimla to complete his schooling. Later did his graduation from Shimla University.

Since his father is a popular filmmaker, artist, poet and fashion designer, who gave him a good base for filmmaking. His interest for filmmaking led him to Mumbai the city of dreams. He soon got the chance to work as an assistant director to veteran director Mani Ratnam with his movie Dil Se in 1998. He then assisted Mani Ratnam for several movies including Guru, Ravan and Ravaan. He then did his directorial debut with the movie Saathiya the Yash Raj Films in the year 2002 starring Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherji Chopra. The movie did a good business and was commercially a big hit giving positive review to the director – Shaadi Ali.

His next movie was Bunty Aur Babli again with Rani Mukherji and Abhishek Bachchan and his father Big B. With these two movies, Shaad Ali was successful in carving his niche in the industry of Bollywood. His next movie was Jhoom Barabar Jhoom starring Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Lara Dutta and Preity Zinta. As far as his personal life is concerned, he was married to Shahzneen Hussain, however, after her divorce he then got married to the stylist Aarti Patkar. His upcoming movie is Kill Dil, which is releasing on 14th November 2014. Though he was nominated at couple of awards, however, was not given any award for any of his movies.
